Rok administration: PwC makes redundancy confirmation
Published:  11 November, 2010

Following yesterday's news of Rok plc and Rok Building Limited going into administration, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has confirmed 268 redundancies.

The Scotland PHE (Plumbing, Heating & Electrical) locations affected are Dundee, Inverness, Elgin, Thurso and Fort William.

Director of business recovery services at PwC Alan Brown said: "When we announced yesterday's redundancies in East Kilbride, we were in discussions with an interested buyer for the remainder of the PHE business in Scotland and remained hopeful that a deal could be concluded. Unfortunately, last night it became apparent that this would not come to fruition.

"As a result of this, and in the absence of any other interested parties, we have regrettably had to take the decision to make the remainder of the PHE workforce redundant."

PwC said it would support employees regarding claims for redundancy and other compensatory payments.

Other staff remaining at the company have been briefed, with administrators working with them over the coming weeks as buyers are sought.
