Twyford crowns its Bathroom Singer of the Year 2014
Published:  11 November, 2014

Twyford has crowned Chris Rawlinson, local father of one, as its Bathroom Singer of the Year 2014, awarding him the 'Golden Mic' award and first prize of £1,000 cash.

So far, almost £2000 has been raised from the competition for Children in Need, with more pledges coming in.

The glittering show saw each of the finalists perform the songs they originally entered with, plus one other, to make it through to a final sing-off. Mr Rawlinson wowed the crowd and the judging panel – which included Yvonne Orgill, chief executive of the Bathroom Manufacturers Association – with his rendition of ‘My Way’. He then secured his place in the final three with ‘Splish Splash’ and ended with ‘Mack the Knife’.

Runner-up was Lydia Haddon, from Trent-Vale, who received the ‘Silver Mic’ and £300 cash, while third place went to Newcastle-under-Lyme’s Reanna Forrester, who received a ‘Bronze Mic’ and £200. The other three contestants – Marie Howard from Lichfield, Northwich’s Niamh Smith and Rochester-based Daniel Alderson – each went away with £100 and a bottle of champagne.

“We were absolutely bowled over by the talent on the night,” said Sabine Mané, head of marketing at Twyford, and one of the judges on the night. “The atmosphere was electric and every one of the finalists gave us a brilliant performance, with Chris a very worthy winner.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported Bathroom Singer – it really has proven to be a great way to raise money for Children in Need and to uncover some genuine talent. We are also grateful to the industry for their support and their entries. We would love the donations and songs to keep coming in this week through to the Bathroom Singer website.”

The competition, sponsored and hosted by Twyford, was launched in September to raise money for Children in Need by discovering original bathroom singing talent. While the competition phase has ended, donations can still be made up until Children in Need night on Friday 14 November. Visit www.twyfordbathroomsinger.co.uk for details.
