New changes to Part L will 'eliminate' non-condensing direct-fired gas water heaters, according to manufacturer Rinnai.
Non-condensing direct fired gas water heaters have been eliminated from use in the changes to Building Regulations, Section two – Part L (Conservation of fuel and power).
Ken Bromley, of the Department for Communities & Local Government (DCLG), informed delegates of the changes at an ICOM seminar held recently, confirming that all direct fired water heaters will have to have a minimum gross efficiency of 90% for natural gas and 92% for LPG.
The seminar on Building Regulations and SAP was hosted jointly by The Heating & Hot Water Industry Council (HHIC) and ICOM, and was attended by members of the gas industry, including manufacturers and gas suppliers.
