APHC has pledged its support of the City & Guilds bursary for learners who wish to study for City & Guilds Plumbing qualifications.

A small number of bursaries or educational grants are available each year for those not able to afford to study without financial support.

The bursaries can be used for a wide range of purposes from paying course and exam fees, to covering living costs and childcare or travel expenses.

John Thompson, APHC chief executive, said: “The City & Guilds bursary is a valuable tool for young students who wish to study for a plumbing and heating qualification but cannot, for whatever reason afford the full fees.

“In the current economic climate this kind of help is needed more than ever to help the next generation of Plumbing and Heating engineers meet their full potential.”

Matt Lardi, City & Guilds lead portfolio manager, said: “All too often we hear about barriers to educational achievement whether they be problems at school, the pressures of home life or lack of financial stability which results in a poverty of opportunity.

“At City & Guilds, we want to inspire people to fulfil their potential and gain the skills they need to succeed, and we hope that the City & Guilds bursary will help enable those chosen to fulfil their dreams.”

Applications for the 2012 bursary are open until 5pm on 1 May 2012 and can only be considered from learners who are currently resident in, and wish to study in the UK.

Anyone missing this deadline will be included in the next round of applications in September 2012.
