PHEX+ returns to London’s Alexandra Palace on 20-21 June. HVP previews what new features visitors can expect to see at the show this year.

With five successful years now under its belt, PHEX+ has firmly cemented itself as the leading trade event for the domestic and commercial HVAC market in the UK.

PHEX+ will be returning to the iconic venue of Alexandra Palace on 20 and 21 June 2018. Not only a great London landmark, the venue also plays host to major world sporting events in darts and snooker, music concerts, as well as a variety of trade and consumer events.

As demonstrated in previous years, the show is a fantastic opportunity for engineers, contractors, specifiers, facilities managers, and installers to meet with manufacturers and suppliers to learn more about the products they work with every day.

There will be over 80 top suppliers showcasing the very latest products and services to make your job easier, plus exclusive show-only deals on many products. If you want to learn more about new boilers, controls, tools, fixings, and more, there’s no better place to be.

The event opens its doors at 10am, with early visitors able to pick up a free bacon sandwich while stocks last. Coming in the afternoon instead? No problem at all, as you’ll be able to enjoy a cold beer for free from 2pm onwards.

Best of all, the event is completely free to attend, meaning there’s no reason to miss out. It couldn’t be easier getting to the venue either, with 1,500 free parking spaces at the venue, as well as good transport links from nearby train stations.

This year, the show will be introducing a raft of new features to the traditional format of PHEX, which we will be showcasing over the following pages.

Show Producer Mark Edginton said: “After such a strong showing at last year’s autumn events, we’ve received a high level of interest from new and existing clients to get involved with our events for 2018.

“I’m delighted that Ally Pally allows us the opportunity to introduce so many new features to this year’s event in June. Our exhibitors have been especially generous with their prizes in support of #PHEXGives and I’m looking forward to seeing the football speed cage in full flow at the event.

“The new area for HVP’s Innovation Showcase will be in the heart of the main hall, and we have a new open-plan seating area for the seminar theatre – a worthwhile addition with plumbing-royalty Charlie Mullins opening our event.

“We are also proud to partner The Ben Kinsella Trust once again – I hope that we can repeat the success of PHEX Chelsea in raising a large amount of money for such a worthwhile cause.”

Seminar programme

PHEX+ 2018 will feature a host of new engaging seminars from top industry figures and organisations.

Our keynote speaker for this year’s show is Charlie Mullins, founder and Chief Executive of Pimlico Plumbers. Hear about how he built his award-winning company from the ground up, as well as his advice for budding entrepreneurs.

The Gas Safe Register will again be providing an essential technical update for Gas Safe-registered engineers, plus the Association of Plumbing & Heating Contractors will also be delivering a seminar looking at the potential impact of the Each Home Counts Review.

On top of that, Anne Timpany, Director at commercial plumbing firm On Tap Plumbers, will be speaking on the topic of apprenticeships and will be on hand to offer advice for firms looking to recruit.

Finally, Paul Hull, founder of Gas Safe Superheroes, will be chairing a session on the progress of the campaign and what’s in store for this year’s Gas Safety Week.

Further sessions at PHEX+ will be confirmed closer to the date, so pleased look out for the full seminar programme in our June issue.

#PHEXGIVES

After a highly successful launch in 2017, #PHEXGives is making its debut at the PHEX+ exhibition in June.

As part of this amazing host of giveaways, PHEX will be continuing to support leading knife crime charity, The Ben Kinsella Trust, and there will be a host of prizes and unique competitions on offer from exhibitors.

As the show coincides with the 2018 World Cup in Russia, PHEX+ will be embracing football fever. This year’s show is set to introduce a new skills challenge for visitors, this time with a football theme.

Precision will be the name of the game at the event’s football speed cage. Attendees will be able to take on a target challenge where the aim is to rack up as many points as possible with accurate shots.

The cage will be manned by none other than award-winning engineer and social media influencer Peter Booth, aka @PBplumber, and representatives of The Ben Kinsella Trust.

If you score the highest points total on that day, you could win tickets to attend the World Darts Championship, held at Alexandra Palace later this year.

All you need to do to enter is provide a small charitable donation, with all the proceeds going directly to The Ben Kinsella Trust.

On top of that, The Ben Kinsella Trust will also be hosting a raffle at its stand at the show. One lucky installer could win a year’s supply of Dickies workwear, as well as a Sprint eVo3 Kit 2 and Flowclean Plus powerflusher kit from Anton.

There are also some great prizes on offer from our exhibitors. You could win a new flatscreen TV, a Nintendo Switch, England football tickets, shopping vouchers, or even a new flue gas analyser.

All you have to do is visit the #PHEXGives partner stands to enter your favourite competitions (individual T&Cs will apply, and stand representatives will be able to advise). For a full list of participating exhibitors, please take a look at the table of #PHEXGives giveaways above.

You can keep up to date with the latest goodies on offer at www.phexshow.co.uk, or follow @PhexShow for the latest information.

Innovation Showcase

At PHEX+, visitors will have the opportunity to get hands-on with the winners of the inaugural HVP Innovation Showcase.

The Innovation Showcase was launched earlier this year as a way to shine a light on the most innovative products in the sector. These are the products which truly embody the qualities installers are looking for, such as ease of installation, energy efficiency, product excellence, and meeting the needs of the end user.

Turn to p34 of this issue to find out more about the competition, as well as learn which products have been crowned as our winners.

A special HVP Innovation Showcase zone will feature at PHEX+ this year, which will showcase the winning products. As well being able to see the products up close, visitors will have the opportunity to speak to the manufacturers directly to learn more about the winning products.

Protools

Based on direct feedback from last year’s visitors across the entire series, PHEX+ will launch a new feature at the show for the tools and workwear sector.

Protools will run alongside the PHEX+ event at Alexandra Palace in June, showcasing the latest tools available for the professional tradesperson, from drills to pipe cutters, to gas analysers and workwear.

All things tools related are a key area of interest for visitors to the show, and Protools will be able to help those tradespeople looking to source a new gas analyser or purchase a new drill.

For ease of navigation at the show, Protools partners will be clearly marked on the main floor plans with the Protools logo. There will also be unique offers and competitions throughout the show run by many of these manufacturers.

Top brands already attending the show include: Anton Group, Kane International, Dickies Workwear, Fluxuator, and more.

More information will be coming about the exhibition in the coming weeks, as well as in HVP's June issue. Keep an eye out, and register for your free ticket to the show at www.phexshow.co.uk/ap.
