Commercial plumbing firm On Tap Plumbers has successfully tendered for two major London projects - the Canary Wharf Group's Wood Wharf Development and leading accountancy firm Deloitte's expansion of its London HQ in New Street Square.

The Wood Wharf scheme is a massive 4.9m sq ft development which is delivering 3,500 homes, including 607 affordable homes, as well as 1.9m sq ft of offices, shops, two hotels, 8.9 acres of interconnected public spaces and leisure facilities in 30 new buildings.

Completion of the first phase of the plans will coincide with the arrival of Crossrail in 2018.The centrepiece of the scheme will be a 57-storey cylindrical residential skyscraper facing the waters of South Dock, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the Swiss architects behind the Tate Modern and the 'Bird's Nest' Olympic stadium in Beijing.

Canary Wharf Group, which is behind the Wood Wharf project, will also be contributing in excess of £60m towards Crossrail and an additional £28m for other infrastructure needs. This will include over £10m for local transport improvements, some of which will be used to improve the nearby Preston's Road roundabout.

On Tap Plumbers, engaged by Wood Wharf mechanical contractor Emico, will be working on one of the residential towers, Block E and E1. The 329 apartments are a two-year project requiring apartment fit out, above ground drainage (AGD) and Rainwater (RWP).

The second contract is for the international accountancy and consulting firm Deloitte, which is increasing its London office space with an extra 275,000sq ft at the 1 New Street Square site.

Deloitte currently has 10,000 staff operating out of the firm's London campus. The business advisory has agreed a 20-year lease with tenant Land Securities, more than 12 months ahead of the development's completion, which is expected in June next year.

On Tap Plumbers has been hired by mechanical contractor Michael J Lonsdale to do all of the fit out package, including pipes and toilets. It is likely to be a six month project for OTP.

Anne Timpany, Co Founder and Director of On Tap Plumbers, said: "It is very exciting for us to be chosen as the commercial plumbing firm for these two major projects in London. As a company we have only been entirely focused on commercial plumbing since 2014 and for us this level of growth in such a short space of time is remarkable.

"We know we are in a very competitive marketplace and because in some ways we still think of ourselves as the 'new kids on the block'. I think this inspires us to work harder, be more reliable, show a willingness to go above and beyond what is expected and give the best possible customer service to all of our clients.

"Both the Wood Wharf and the Deloitte expansion projects means we are now active on seven sites across the capital. We have a truly fantastic team of highly qualified plumbers and we work hard with them to create a bond and loyalty towards On Tap Plumbers. We are fully aware of the problems in construction surrounding both skills shortages and retention. We treat our plumbers exceptionally well and do everything we can to make them feel part of the On Tap Plumbers family."
