Steve Willis Training Centres has hosted an awards ceremony for its Apprenticeship graduates.

Held at the Kings Centre in Burgess Hill, over 150 people gathered to celebrate the success of the 50 apprentices who graduated with an apprenticeship (incorporating City & Guilds) in one of the following categories:

  • Gas Level 3

  • Electrical Level 3

  • Plumbing Level 2

  • Plumbing Level 3.

Individual awards were also presented to acknowledge 'Apprentice of the Year' in each of the categories, those who had overcome various issues to complete their course, and those who had achieved a particularly high standard.

The awards ceremony was attended by industry representatives including Martyn Bridges, director of marketing and technical support at Worcester Bosch Group, and Terry Stephenson, president of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering.

Mr Bridges, who was once an apprentice himself, said: "I'm delighted to be here, I know how brilliant the training is and I'm proud to be one of the Award sponsors."

Mr Stephenson stressed the importance of completing an apprenticeship not only to the individual but to the UK as a whole. He highlighted many of the benefits of becoming an apprentice graduate, including having no student loans and finding a job in what you’ve actually studied in.

Steve Willis, managing director of Steve Willis Training Centres, added: "I'm delighted with the success of these apprentices; it is only through their hard work and determination that they have succeeded. I wish them all well."

He went onto thank the sponsors for their support.

The ceremony closed with a short speech from Anne Jones MBE, Mayor of Burgess Hill. She stressed the importance of apprenticeships to young people, saying: "I am very proud of what Steve Willis Training Centres has achieved; it is pretty impressive. They are not just a business but a community providing apprenticeships that actually deliver for young people."
