Plumb and Parts Center has launched its new ErP calculator to coincide with the ErP Directive becoming law on 26 September.

The new Directive for ecodesign and energy labelling of space and water heaters aims to ensure equipment meets minimum efficiency requirements, and will be mandatory for all 28 countries in the EU. Gas and oil boilers, cylinders, heat pumps and solar thermal cylinders are among the heating products that are likely to be affected.

Manufacturers will be responsible for ensuring their products have compliant energy labels, which must be clearly visible on the product at the point of sale.

Each product must also include a fiche of energy efficiency information documents.

Installers supplying a complete heating system will be required to calculate and issue system/package efficiency labels. Plumb and Parts Center has developed an online package calculator and label generator designed to make the process easier for installers.

The calculator is available at www.plumbcenter.co.uk/en/info/erp-resource-zone. It is also enabled for use on smart phones and tablets.

ErP package labels and fiches can be produced by inputting the efficiency ratings of the various system components, and saved as PDFs, which can be emailed to the customer.

Also included in the Resource Zone are videos which give a quick recap of what ErP is and why installers need to be aware of it, links to articles on the subject of ErP, and the supplier zone, providing information on manufacturers’ ErP-rated products.
