WaterSafe, the UK's approved plumber assurance scheme, is celebrating after Robert Hawksworth from Hawksworth Mechanical, Bradford became its 2000th member less than a year after its launch.

WaterSafe has gone from strength to strength since October 2013, tapping into the interest of plumbing businesses nationwide and the public's need for trusted tradesmen.

“I joined WaterSafe primarily from a legislation and regulation point of view. I value the access to information it gives members and its news updates are great for keeping me informed of any new industry changes," said Mr Hawksworth.

“Being WaterSafe accredited means homeowners have that trust in me and my work. It’s also great getting the online profile listing on WaterSafe’s website, which homeowners can use for free to search for plumbers in their area at no cost.”

WaterSafe brings together all seven Approved Contractors’ Schemes under one umbrella organisation, with the aim of providing recognition for qualified and competent plumbers. The scheme is a national register, accreditation body and online directory designed to provide consumers with assurance of getting an accredited, professional plumber every time.

Julie Spinks, board member for WaterSafe, said: “Since our launch last year, we have invested a significant amount of time and money into raising the profile of WaterSafe, not only amongst plumbers but homeowners, too.

“Our series of high-profile national consumer campaigns backed by celebrity and consumer expert Alice Beer have been hugely successful in making sure WaterSafe is always front-of-mind for the consumer when looking for a qualified and recognised plumber.

“Over the next year, our aim is to substantially grow our plumber network and also further promote the benefits of using a WaterSafe accredited plumbing business to consumers through a number of exciting campaigns and activities.”
