The Oil Firing Technical Association is urging oil consumers to back a new e-petition calling for carbon monoxide detectors to be made mandatory in homes, ahead of this year's Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week.

With consumer safety a key priority for OFTEC, the trade body is encouraging oil users to visit www.notoco.co.uk and pledge their support to change the law and make it compulsory for CO alarms to be installed in all English and Welsh households with carbon-burning appliances.

Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week will take place from 17 to 23 November.
