Business is looking up for the UK tradespeople as Britons increasingly down tools and turn to the professionals to carry out work on their home improvement projects, according to research from www.ironmongerydirect.co.uk.

The study claims hectic lifestyles and lack of basic DIY skills are to blame for homeowners’ general lack of enthusiasm for DIY, and tradesmen are simultaneously reporting a rise in work.

Over 10,000 people working across a range of trades revealed that business is on the up for most UK trade professionals, with 93% saying business is positive, and 16% claiming business is ‘booming’. Only 7% of tradespeople said that they are struggling at the moment.

The increase in work is said to be linked to homeowners preferring to get a professional in for maintenance jobs around the house, rather than doing it themselves.
