The 2014 version of the HETAS Guide to approved products and appliances has now been published.

The annual guide is an essential reference tool for anyone working in the solid fuel and biomass industry including installers, specifiers, retailers and manufacturers. With over 1,000 HETAS approved products listed, it includes MCS approved products and biomass fuel producers which are useful for the RHI.

It has a comprehensive index making it easy to find if a specific product is approved, and lists approved installers, chimney sweeps, fuels and technical guidance. Defra exempt appliances for use in smoke control areas are easy to identify within the product listings.

One of the main advantages of using a HETAS approved product is that it has been independently assessed to meet building regulation requirements in England and Wales. Both specifiers and installers can be secure in the knowledge they are selecting a product, which will comply with building regulations, and consumers will have the reassurance of choosing a product that has independent product approval.

The guide is distributed free of charge to HETAS approved installers, retailers, sweeps and manufacturers with approved products. Additional copies cost £20 and can be ordered directly from HETAS, or the Guide can be downloaded free of charge from the HETAS website.

HETAS is unique in specialising in biomass and operates the only dedicated competent person scheme for biomass. It operates approval schemes for microgeneration, appliances, retailers and fuels.
