The Standards and Competency Criteria for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme have been updated.

Moving forward, evidence of competence for individuals working for an organisation will need to be provided in order to gain MCS accreditation. These changes will be phased in from 16 March 2014 and initially apply to new applications for accreditation.

Kevin Dowd, network operations manager at The National Skills Academy, said: "The new MCS Standards provide clear guidance for employers on the competence they will need in their company, whether individuals are directly employed or subcontracted as part of the supply chain. It means that both those undertaking qualifications and those following the experienced worker route will be working to the same competency criteria.”
