BSS Industrial raises £3,000 for charity with the help of the industry.

BSS Industrial invited its customers and suppliers to the second annual BSS Challenge Cup event last month (June) where 15 teams chartered a fleet of yachts on the Solent, a major British shipping route.

The event raised £3,000 for the company's partner charity, Rainbow Trust, which provides support to families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness.

Polypipe Terrain-sponsored Oceanis 37 yacht came in second place, but the challenge was won by a Wilo-sponsored yacht, also an Oceanis 37.

During the race, the wind picked up, resulting in some competitive racing and "an exciting finish", according to Builders Merchants' News.

Winning-team member from Wilo, Dan Wild, said: "Winning this event was a great feeling.

"The Challenge Cup is a real adventure and a wonderful opportunity for business relationships to be built as well as meeting customers and suppliers in a fantastic setting and atmosphere."

Other sponsors included Geberit, Grundfos and Pegler Yorkshire. BSS Industrial's managing director, Frank Elkins, said: "We would like to thank each of [our customers] for taking part and our suppliers for their support, as the event wouldn't have been possible without them."
