APHC is calling all installers, particularly those working on newbuild properties, to take part in the government consultation on its proposed changes to Building Regulations and Housing Standards.

The consultation has arisen from the Housing Standards Review carried out by a group of industry representatives, who have looked at areas of overlap and duplication currently occurring in the planning system. Their aim has been to identify unnecessary measures that can be changed or removed from the standard.

John Thompson, chief executive, APHC said: “It is important that all members of the industry take part in this consultation, especially those who work on newbuild properties. As part of the proposed changes there is an overall plan to develop a nationally described standard that will eventually be integrated into the Building Regulations and it is this plan that could have implications at a later date. I would advise all installers to read and comment on the proposals before the closing date.”

The consultation closes on the 22 October. To download a copy of the consultation documentation please visit: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/230250/1-_Housing_Standards_Review_-_Consultation_Document.pdf.
