Plumbers, heating and ventilating engineers and electricians living in the Aylesbury area can now upskill closer to home.

Jag Virdee, national operations manager at Get Training, said: "We are pleased to become part of the National Skills Academy network and understand that continual investment in training is one of the best ways to improve performance. Get Training offers a broad range of flexible courses that will endeavour to meet the needs of craftspeople in and around the area."

Get Training currently delivers training in small-scale solar photovoltaic systems (pictured), domestic and non-domestic energy assessments. In addition, this September they will be providing courses in environmental technology systems, solar thermal hot water and heat pump (non-refrigerant circuits) systems, along with courses in building services engineering, insulation and fenestration and energy efficiency.

"Bringing in a private training provider enables us to broaden our offer,” said Kevin Dowd, network operations manager of the National Skills Academy. “Get Training will help us to ensure competitive and new initiatives are made available, guaranteeing craftspeople have the best opportunity to gain experience in a real-life working scenario and create more energy-efficient homes and businesses."
