Dickies is launching the UK Worker of the Year 2013 competition in association with Suzuki to find Britain's top workers and ultimately the UK Worker of the Year.

This will mark the fourth year of the competition which seeks to recognise and reward excellence in the British workforce. This year’s winner will have the luxury of being able to take home a Suzuki Swift car or, if they prefer, a Suzuki bike.

Wayne Dye, general manager at Suzuki GB, commented: “We are very proud to be working in association with the coveted WOTY campaign and will be supporting the efforts of Dickies and associated partner to find the 2013 winner who will become the proud new owner of a fabulous Suzuki Swift or GSR750 from our current range.”

Quentin Willson, TV presenter and consumer and motoring champion, said: “WOTY is now a major UK workplace award and I'm really proud to have been a supporter and judge from the very beginning. It's great that past winners tell us the competition changes lives.”

Di Mayze, an entrepreneur from Nottingham, was crowned UK Worker of the Year in 2012 after impressing the judges with passion and drive for her business.

“This competition has changed my life and the car will help me so much with my work and business in the future,” said Mayze. “The journey has been brilliant and I’ve met so many fantastic people during my time in the competition. I’m already looking forward to being a part of UK WOTY 2013. I would urge anyone who hears about the competition to have a go at entering or to nominate someone as an entrant. It costs nothing except a few minutes of time and those few minutes could prove to be incredibly worthwhile.”

Joint second place went to Somerset pest controller Tom Edwards and Suffolk painter and decorator Anna Bettis who walked away with thousands of pounds of holiday vouchers.

Maurice Morton, sales and marketing director at Dickies, remarked: “Given the ongoing uncertainty that the country faces economically, a feel-good initiative of this type is more important than ever, to remind our nation’s work force that they have much to be proud of and look forward to.”

UK WOTY is free to enter and open to anyone who works in the UK aged 17 or over. The winner of UK Worker of the Year 2013 will be announced at the Gala event, held at the Madejski Stadium in Reading on 18 October.
