The Association of Plumbing & Heating Contractors (APHC) has received an "excellent" response to its Gas Competency Survey.

Graeme Dryden, APHC technical services manager, said: “We are thrilled with the level of response and reaction to our survey. It shows that employers in the industry are concerned about gas competency and want to influence changes to future competency arrangements.

"The review itself has demonstrated the depth of feeling around the subject of competency with many expressing the view that current arrangements are burdensome and need to change. Within the results we were able to identify comments from several certification bodies and training centres and these have been passed directly to EU Skills."

EU Skills will formulate the responses into a document for inclusion within its own report, which will be revealed in due course.
