Preliminary findings from APHC's gas competency survey has produced some surprising results, says APHC.

Over 85% of respondents agreed with APHC's suggested changes to gas competency, while many others also suggested additional areas to be considered.

Many also expressed a wish to be involved in future discussions and surveys covering gas competency.

Graeme Dryden, APHC technical services manager, said: “We are delighted with the preliminary results of this survey. Gas competence is not known to be an exciting topic and usually does not provoke a great response from businesses and employers.

"We seem to have hit a nerve and re-energised the debate on gas competency with our survey and the ongoing E&U Skills work. We need to keep this momentum going to ensure everyone’s views are taken into account. I would encourage all employers and businesses out there to get involved and have their say, the survey is still open and we welcome all views.”
