The Association of Plumbing & Heating Contractors can now operate a Green Deal Competent Person Scheme and certify installers in preparation for the scheme's launch in October.
APHC received the accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) as a Competent Persons Scheme Operator and as an installer-certifying body for a range of measures under the Government’s new flagship Green Deal programme.
John Thompson, APHC Chief Executive commented: “We are delighted to confirm that after several months of hard work by staff and members, APHC (Certification) Ltd. has received UKAS approval to operate the Green Deal Installer and Competent Persons Schemes. This will allow us to continue to provide a comprehensive Competent Persons Scheme and enable us to offer installer certification services under the Green Deal Scheme when it is launched."
During 2011 government announced that all Competent Person Scheme operators would be required to achieve UKAS accreditation in order to continue to provide a Competent Persons Scheme. This occurred in parallel with a further announcement that government was seeking organisations to progress piloting activities in support of the Green Deal.
